brainlife.io

brainlife.io is an open-source, decentralized cloud platform that lets neuroscientists publish datasets and analysis apps and run them through a web UI backed by national supercomputers, private clouds, and institutional HPC.

As technical lead and senior engineer (Indiana University, 2017–2022), I designed a highly scalable backend that handles hundreds of researchers running millions of jobs per year, operated the production service stack and high-availability infrastructure, and built flagship neuroimaging visualizers and GPU-enabled native UI streaming.

The platform standardizes, manages, visualizes, and processes data while automatically tracking the provenance of thousands of data objects — making research findable, accessible, interoperable, and reproducible (FAIR). It was validated across four data modalities and 3,200 participants.
